LFC President’s Message
We are well into the second indoor season with the new LFC club and are currently finalizing the plans for the upcoming outdoor program. We are excited about the outdoor program as we will be enhancing the technical component of our program, beginning with the season opening May Long Weekend technical camp, which will be held entirely at the University of Lethbridge facilities this year. In addition Strength and Conditioning sessions have been coordinated through the Lethbridge Alberta Sports Development Centre (ASDC), and will be incorporated into specific age groups for the outdoor season.
The LFC wishes to provide top level technical programming giving our athletes the opportunity to compete at the highest level provincially, nationally and even internationally. With the scope of soccer constantly changing at these levels, it is imperative that the LFC make changes that will allow us to move to the future. Striving to offer top level programming requires increased resources, financially, administratively and technically. We are working hard to ensure that additional costs to the membership are kept to a minimum, but still require the administrative help and fundraising support in order to make that a reality. Currently we are without a Director of Sponsorship/Fundraising, this position is absolutely critical to the future success of the program, without income from both sponsorship and fundraising activities the costs of the LFC program need to be funded entirely by player fees, bingo and casino revenues.
In addition to the enhancements in our program we are currently faced with an impact on our fees due to increases in league fees, field rentals, referee costs and association fee increases by the LSA, ASA and CSA. The board of directors has done their best to minimize the increase in our fees by offsetting fees from our current bingo and casino revenue while still providing a technical program that we feel will be effective.
We continue to build on our relationships with the LSA, ASA, CSA, ASDC, University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge College to assist in providing a learning environment that is fun, encourages creativity and develops our players to their maximum ability.
On behalf of the LFC I would like to thank Barry Morrison as the LSA District Head Coach for all the extra effort and guidance he has provided to the club. His passion for soccer and working with our youth is exemplary.
Once again I would like to encourage all members to continue their support of our Club through coach and player commitment, parent volunteering and fan enthusiasm!
Yours in soccer,
Annemarie Clark
